Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacist Dentist Board Union (KMPDU) has called off a planned doctor’s strike that was set to commence Friday after an expiry of seven days notice.
The looming strike was called off after the County Government reached an agreement on grievances raised by the medical practitioners umbrella and signed an MOU.
The two warring parties have agreed to settle the grievances both on short and long term approach
KMPD had threatened a strike notice over tribalism and favoritism in doctors’ welfare and promotion, harassment and intimidation and unlawfully resignation have been cited as the major thorny issues affecting the medics.
Nonexistence of annual leave, denial of doctors study leave and lack of remittance of third-party deductions to the relevant bodies.
