US-based tennis sensation Angela Okutoyi, will be among eight players representing the country in the upcoming African Games in Accra, Ghana next week.

The 2022 Wimbledon Open doubles juniors’ champion will be leading a familiar company of players, as four from the women’s side previously partnered with the Kenya’s top ranked player.

The players who include Cynthia Wanjala, Zimbabwe-based Melissa Mwakha and Stacy Yego will be using the Pan African Games as a pathway to the Paris Olympic Games.

Okutoyi, Wanjala and Yego were all in action in last December’s International Tennis Federation [ITF] Women’s World Tour at the Karen Country Club, where they all fell short of the Quarterfinals.

Top seed Israel Changawa Ruwa, Rwandan Open champion Albert Njogu, Ibrahim Kibet Yego and Kevin Cheruiyot have all been included in the men’s team.

The team is set to join the rest of the African Games Kenyan delegation for a seven-day residential camp at Kasarani.

The players have been in camp for the last six weeks and are expected to post good results during the biannual games set to begin on March 8th.
