Janeth Chepng’etich fought hard to win 10,000m  gold medal l at the All African Games in Accra Ghana on Thursday night.

The 25 year old remained in the leading pack with exchanges of 1st position going into the last 3 laps between the Kenyan and Ethiopia’s trio of Belew Kefale,Behre Amare and Ayana Mulia.

However it was Kenya’s last laugh as Chepng’etich sprinting in the with 100m to go  to bag the gold medal in 33:37.00 minutes as Kefale settled for silver while Amare took bronze.

Thursday night gold was Kenya’s 6th at the Accra games and 2nd of the day.

The medal elevated Kenya to the 9th position overall in the medal table with 6 gold and 6 silver medals and 12 bronze.
