Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville is the overnight leader of day 1 action of the 2024 WRC Safari rally after emerging victorious at the Super Special Kasarani stage on Thursday afternoon.
Neuville won a thrilling head-to-head against Toyota Gazoo’s Elyfin Evans to clock 3 minutes, 19.9 seconds, 0.1 second ahead of his teammate Ott Tanak, while the 2023 champion Kalle Rovanpera finished 3rd in 3:20.7.
Kenyans Carl Tundo and Karan Patel finished the SS1 in 7th and 8th positions, respectively, in the WRC2, posting 3:42.9 and 3:43.4 in that order.
The action shifts to the ever-challenging Loldia, Geothermal, and Kedong loop stages on Friday.
