Global leaders are expected to use the Connect Africa Summit 2024 platform to come up with policies that will accelerate both infrastructure development and investment in the digital economy.
The summit will focus on Africa’s ICT priorities like bridging the digital divide at the same time identifying new investment opportunities as guided by the AU Agenda 2063.
Those in attendance will include Africa Union Chairperson, Moussa Faki, World Bank (WB) President, Ajay Banga and Africa Development Bank (AfDB) President Akinwumi Adesina.
The leaders expected to give key addresses join a list of six ICT and Communication Ministers; Salima Monorma Bah (Sierra Leone), Léocadie Ndacayisaba (Burundi),Felix Mutati (Zambia),Mudane Jaamac Xasan Khaliif (Somalia), Emma Theofelus (Namibia) and Radwan Abdillahi Bahdon from Djibouti.
Additionally, the summit will nurture innovative ideas and partnerships that leverage on technology to advance Africa’s development agenda.
Global and African ambassadors from leading technology and investment markets from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Costa Rica, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Malawi, Federal Republic of Somalia, Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Senegal, Burundi, South Africa, South Sudan, Turkey and Zimbabwe, including the United States of America Ambassador to Kenya, Margaret Whitman, and United Kingdom’s Neil Wigan OBE will also be attendance.
The summit will act as a precursor for the UN Summit of the Future which is expected to determine their role in green technology and governance of generative AI for African realities in September.
