Two-time Confederation Cup champions RS Berkane  of Morocco have been allowed to wear their jerseys for their semi-final return leg tie on Sunday against host USMA of Algeria.

According to sources close to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the committee has decided that the jerseys worn by the players of Moroccan soccer club Renaissance Sportive de Berkane comply with CAF statutes and regulations.

Consequently, Renaissance Sportive de Berkane are authorized to use their shirts during the match in Algiers.

In this respect, the Algerian Football Federation has been invited by CAF to take all necessary measures to facilitate the urgent handover to RSK of its sports equipment detained by Algerian customs in order to avoid disrupting the organisational aspects of tomorrow’s match against USM Alger.

This follows the confrontation at the Algiers Airport on Friday, when Algerian authorities detained Berkane players for some time in what they termed acceptable attire.

The incident has created tension between the two north African neighbours, who had been in a cold relationship since Algeria closed its airspace for Moroccan planes in 2021.
