Nairobi United, popularly known as Naibois, has secured a historic promotion to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League.
The club achieved the milestone on Friday, May 23, 2025, after staging a thrilling comeback to defeat 3K in a National Super League match.
The promotion marks a major turning point for the team, coming less than a year after Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, through the Sakaja Foundation, acquired the club.
Since then, Nairobi United has seen rapid growth on and off the pitch, driven by fresh investments, improved management, and impressive performances in competitive fixtures.
Governor Sakaja had promised to transform the club into a top contender in Kenyan football.
Speaking last year after the acquisition, he said, “Nairobi United has immense potential, and we are committed to making a team that competes with the best in the country. The transformation of the club will include significant investments in training facilities, recruitment of new talents, and enhanced support for the club’s management and players.”
That promise is now bearing fruit, as Nairobi United prepares to feature in the FKF Premier League next season—Kenya’s top-tier football competition.
Governor Sakaja has been at the forefront of promoting sports development in the capital, including building and rehabilitating stadiums across Nairobi.
Through the Sakaja Foundation, he has also launched the annual Sakaja Super Cup, which continues to unearth and nurture football talent across the county.
