Bank Al-Habib (BAHL) has officially exited the Kenyan market after operating in the country for seven years.
In a statement released on Monday, June 30, 2025, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) confirmed the closure of the Pakistan-based bank’s operations in Kenya. The CBK said BAHL voluntarily ceased its activities in Kenya on May 15, 2025, following a strategic decision by the bank to streamline its international operations.
“The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) announces the cancellation of the authority granted to Bank Al-Habib Ltd (BAHL) of Pakistan to operate in Kenya,” the statement read.
BAHL was licensed to operate in Kenya on April 9, 2018. Headquartered in Karachi, Pakistan, the commercial bank offered corporate banking, retail services, and international trade finance.
