An elderly woman was found murdered in her house in Namusembi village, Sirisia, Bungoma County.
Police said the body of Risper Nabiswo Wayongo, 95 was found lying in her bedroom with blood oozing from her private parts.
His son said he heard commotion from the woman’s house on Saturday night and when he went to check, he saw a neighbor run from the scene.
It was then he realized the woman was lying dead after an assault.
Police were called to the scene and moved the body to the mortuary.
In the neighbouring Matisi area, a night guard was killed in a robbery at a bar, police said.
The body of the deceased man identified as Martin Muhongo, 49 was found lying in a pool of blood about 100 meters from the bar.
He had deep cuts in the head and his legs and hands were tied.
The assailants stole a 42-inch television set, a laptop and assorted alcoholic drinks.
The gang also broke into the offices of a bus company and stole assorted parcels that had been kept there for receiving and dispatch.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and the hunt for the assailants.
In Embali, Vihiga County, a woman was found murdered and her body abandoned on the roadside in Shamatete village.
Police identified her as Melisa Omina, 35.
The body had strangulation marks on the neck and blood was oozing from the mouth and nose, police said.
The woman was also assaulted before being murdered. The motive of the incident is yet to be known. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
And police in Masara, Migori County are investigating an incident where a family unlawfully buried a body after death.
A man is said to have buried his son aged three and a half years after he died in the village.
The boy had died on July 17, before the father dug a shallow grave where he buried him in the night.
The police visited the scene and announced it was a crime scene.
Plans are to exhume the body for autopsy and investigations.
A traditional healer has also been mentioned in the saga and is being sought for grilling. The father of the deceased boy also escaped the scene as police approached.
