Moroccan side RS Berkane has been awarded a 3-0 win walkover against host USM Alger of Algeria for their last Sunday CAF Confed Cup 1st leg of the semi final.
The committee for the organization of the interclub competition and the management of the club licensing system, met on Wednesday, April 24, 2024,and awarded Berkane a 3-0 win with the return leg set for the 28th of this month at the Berkane Municipal stadium in Morocco.
The committee has also submitted the case to the Disciplinary Jury for possible additional sanctions.
Following the decision means Berkane have one foot in the final as they are in search of a third title, while USMA has a daunting task of overturning a 0-3 deficit as they travel to their neighbors for the return match this weekend.
The USMA wanted Berkane disqualified from this year’s competition for what it termed offensive jerseys they wore upon arrival at the Algiers airport last Friday, ahead of their Sunday match, a matter that was resolved by the CAF disciplinary committee that okayed Berkane to don the attire.
